Sometimes my daughters and I grab crayons and coloring books, plop on our stomachs on the floor, and go to town. Most of the time I color inside the lines, but I never make everything the color it’s “supposed” to be. On my pages, apples are purple, clouds are teal, and penguins wear polka dots.
When my kids were little, they would point at my pictures and scoff, saying, “You can’t do that!”
I’d always ask, “Why not?”
They could never give me a good answer.
As you think about things you’d love to experience or accomplish in your life, ask yourself the same question: Why not? Of course, not every wild whim is a good idea (I’m assuming it’s not necessary for me to actually include the words illegal, immoral or dangerous here.) But when you’re dreaming up something new, why not start with the far- fetched?
Think of something you’ve always told yourself you shouldn’t do. Now ask yourself, Why not? If you can’t think of a valid reason not to do it, then go for it!
Go ahead. Color outside the lines. Think outside the box. Let your imagination soar, right up there with that polka-dotted penguin flying through the teal clouds.

I love this, especially your final word picture of polka-dotted penguins flying through the teal clouds! (I like to color too, and have grandchildren who give me an excuse to do it!)
